Multiple MVA's with Injuries

On Sunday December 13, 2009 Hawthorne FD was dispatched for several MVA's in the Hawthorne area, over the course of an hour.  Units operating 2191, 2192, E155, U41, 63B1, 63B2, Valhalla FD, Valhalla VAC, Pleasantville VAC, Sleepy Hollow VAC, Braircliff Manor FD Ambulance NYSP, NYS DOT

Weather Conditions: 28-31 degrees with very lite rain. Causing the roads to freeze over.

A total of 4 calls were received for multiple MVA's. The first of the calls started at 1130 hrs located on the Saw Mill Pkwy Southbound IFO West. Cnty PD. As this call was on going the crews were able to see and hear the another taking place on the Taconic State Pkwy.  The biggest one was an 8 car pile up on the Taconic State Pkwy Northbound at M/M 4.1 with patients complaining about neck and back injuries. The other three calls also had injuries and all were minor in nature. Three of the calls were within a mile stretch of the parkway, starting at the exit for Hawthorne Rt. 141 all the way up to Exit for Rt.117.
