On Saturday October 24, 2009 the Hawthorne Fire Company proudly inducted two new members with their 25 yr. Life Membership Status. The new members are Michelle Ortiz who joined in October 1984 and  Henry Oswald Jr. August 1984.

Hawthorne also will be inducting two members with the status of 50 yrs of service to the company also. They are Henry Oswald Sr. joined in June 1959 and Louis Cardinale joined in August 1959.

Henry Oswald Jr. has held several different post in the department. He has served as a  chief driver of apparatus, board of director and also has served has a line officer and chief of the department for the years of 2005 & 2006. Henry is currently on his second round serving as 1st Assist. Chief & will be Chief of the Department starting in January 2010.

Michelle Ortiz has held positions in the department, such as financial Secretary, board of directors to the benevolent, and ladder operator for TL 12 & L56.

Lou Cardinale has also served on the board of directors for the benevolent and also assists the kitchen crew for drills, and other functions.

Henry Oswald Sr. served as line officer, chief driver of several apparatus over the years. Henry is currently active with the kitchen committee in helping out on company meeting night, drills, and other special occasions.

The members of the Hawthorne Fire Comp. applaud these members on their very special achievements and also with 150 yrs. of combined service to the their community. We thank them for service and dedication to the company.
